Leah: I just read it
:)
me: oh
haha
ok
let me read
19:20 Leah: k

5 minutes
19:25 me: hm ok
Leah: Yeah..
me: ha
nwo what? :)
19:26 Leah: Idk.. :P
me: ha
well
im kind of intrigue by "an offering made by fire"
d
i sort of want to look up what that means
Leah: Go for it
19:29 "These verses also show that the offering from the herd and the flock had to be male and without defect but the offering of birds in verse 14 placed no such conditions thereby allowing the poor to bring their offering. The lesson here is that God expects each man to give to Him according to his means, in acknowledgement that it is God who has prospered him. He will not accept inferior offerings" Hmm
me: huh yeah that is interesting
19:30 Leah: mmmh
me: and really cool
about the poor
huh
Leah: Yeah..Thats what caught m eye
me: im also seeing a lot about the "of his own free will"
Leah: Huh
19:31 me: wait are you reading NIV?
Leah: yep
me: oh ok
yeah i dont see that in NIV
19:32 but this verse says
[3] If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD.
Of his own will — According to this translation, the place speaks only of free-will offerings, or such as were not prescribed by God to be offered in course, but were offered by the voluntary devotion of any person, either by way of supplication for any mercy, or by way of thanksgiving for any blessing received. But it may seem improper to restrain the rules here given to free-will offerings, which were to be observed in other offerings also.
Leah: Hmm
Thats interesting
19:33 me: what about these directions?
why the north side or east side of the altar?
Leah: Yeah..I was wondering that too
19:34 me: It must be offered at the door of the tabernacle, where the brazen altar of burnt-offerings stood, which sanctified the gift: he must offer it at the door, as one unworthy to enter, and acknowledging that a sinner can have no communion with God, but by sacrifice.
well that talks about the door!
19:35 Leah: Hmm. Yeah. \
19:40 I can find anything directly related to the north or the east
me: me eitehr
trevor's looking it up in his bible :)
Leah: :)
19:42 me: 1:11 North - ward - Here this and other kinds of sacrifices were killed, Lev 6:25, and Lev 7:2, because here seems to have been the largest and most convenient place for that work, the altar being probably near the middle of the east - end of the building, and the entrance being on the south - side. Besides this might design the place of Christ's death both more generally, in Jerusalem, which was in the sides of the north, Psa 48:2, and more specially, on mount Calvary, which was on the north - west side of Jerusalem.
or
Northward before the Lord - That is, on the north side of the altar. See also Leviticus 4:24, Leviticus 4:29, Leviticus 4:33; Leviticus 7:2. This was probably an arrangement of some practical convenience. On the west side of the altar stood the laver; on the east side was the place of ashes (see Leviticus 1:16 note); and the south side, where appears to have been the slope by which the priests went up to the altar, must have been left clear for a path.
19:43 Leah: Well, that helps
"the bull is more difficult to control than the sheep, hence its management requires the larger area of the outer court"
hahah
darn bulls!
19:46 Leah: HAh
me: anyway
lol
Leah: :P
19:48 me: soooo yeah
:)
but that was cool and interesting
i like how you think about things
:)
one last thing:
i like the 'sweet smelling' or pleasing aroma
even God doesnt like the smell of farts
19:49 and i think a lot of times
i forget to include smells and touch and taste in worship
its mostly like ... sight and sound
Leah: Hah. Yeah..I like how it kept repeating or emphasizing the "Pleasing smell to God"
19:50 me: yep exactly
Leah: Also.. I dont know how you like how I think..I barely said anything
But thanks..
me: well you looked up exactly what i would have looked up
and said 'i was wondering that too'
its cool to see what you were wondering about
Leah: Okay..
19:51 I love you.
And i hope we keep this up
me: i love you. :)
me too!
Leah: <3
